Later the plant was brought to India and Japan, and was first transported to Europe in the 17th century, where Linnaeus created its name from the Greek words ‘chrysous (golden) plus anthemon (flower). The natural color of the flower was mostly yellow, but in civilization it was modified through hybridization to include white, purple, and red.
