What is Gentian Extract?Gentian extract is the water or alcohol extract of gentiana root and rhizome of Traditional Chinese medicine. The main active components are the cycloditerpenes and the cycloditerpenes glycosides of gentiana. It has the function of clearing heat, dryness and dampness, relieving liver, gallbladder and fire, etc.
Gentian extract is used for facial wind, erythema, and acne. The treatment of wind on the face is liver and gallbladder damp-heat, with symptoms such as greasy skin, flushing and exudate, or with dry mouth and bitter mouth, uncomfortable stools, and yellow urine. It can be used with Bupleurum, Scutellaria, and Mutong, such as gentian to relieve liver soup. To treat erythema multiforme, which belongs to the liver meridian, it is often used with Prunella vulgaris, honeysuckle, rehmannia glutinosa, tree peony bark, Alisma, and other products that clear the liver and relieve fire, cool serum and benefit. To treat acne, it can be used with Sophora flavescens, Phellodendron amurense and Coptis coptis.Gentian Extract is yellow gentian, native to mountain areas of Southern and Central Europe. Gentian extract contains bitter secoiridoid glycosides gentiopicrin and amarogentin.
