What is Tetrahydrocurcumin?Tetrahydrocurcumin oids (THC) is the main product of curcumin metabolism in the human body and is obtained by hydrogenation of curcumin. THC is an odorless white powder which is more hydrophilic than curcumin. It has been used as a raw material for various skin care products in the research and development of cosmetics and has broad development prospects.

Tetrahydrocurcumin is a beta-diketone that is curcumin in which both of the double bonds have been reduced to single bonds. It has a role as a metabolite. It is a beta-diketone, a polyphenol and a diarylheptanoid. It derives from a curcumin.
Tetrahydrocurcumin, a curcumin metabolite, exhibited anticancer activities against human breast cancer MCF-7 cells by the induction of mitochondrial apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase through the activation of p38 MAPK.
Curcumin exhibits maximum inhibition of CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 at 50 to 100 μM. It does not show a consistent dose-response inhibition of CYP1A2 or CYP2D6 over the range of concentrations tested. In some cases, the percent inhibition exceeds 100%. The effect of Tetrahydrocurcumin on cancer cell viability is measured.
